The Road Ahead

I’m gonna start getting more active with the site. So far it’s mostly just served as a dumping ground for photo collections and the occasional (read: two) travelogue essay. And while it was fine like that, the site can be a lot more than that. I’ve already made a few changes to the site (including adding more portfolios of images), but there’s still work to be done.

For starters, I’ll be dusting off my blogging gloves and updating a lot more. They won’t all be essays (some might be little more than a video or a link and a few words), but I’ll try to keep them regular. The main reason my last blog went off the air was because I’d allowed it to get to the point where I felt every update had to be a thoughtful, artfully-written photo essay. By the end, it had been months between updates. So for now I’ll keep it simple and keep it steady. If I feel like opinin’, I’ll opine; but I’ll also remind myself they don’t all have to be To Kill a Mockingbird.

While I’m at it, I’ll also be seeing about making a few videos. Some friends have been on me for a while now to get stuff up on the youtubes, so I figured why not. As I’m not currently traveling (and I doubt many people would tune in for travelogues of the Bay Area suburbs), I’ll likely be starting with some “Show & Tell” videos. My only youtube video to receive more than 20 hits was a camera bag review, so that’s as good a place to start as any. God knows I’ve got plenty of gadgets to show off.

That’s about it for now. The rest of social media will remain the same: my tumblr will keep on keepin’ on as it’s more of a visual platform and I don’t see there being much overlap there; Twitter will continue to be where I post when I need customer service; and Instagram will continue to be that place I’ll barely update until someone comes up with a working desktop app.

Right, then. Let’s do this.
