Death Valley was a revelation.
I’d gone in with a specific mental image and was completely floored by what I’d found. The park offered some of the most severely, brutally beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen. And where I’d expected the same view for miles, the desert proved to be home to a variety of terrains.
Best of all whereas in most other parks you have to hike to get to the back country, in Death Valley you have to drive. Which means that with an off-road vehicle, almost all of the 3.3 million acre park can be your oyster. I sadly didn’t have one last time, but I will the next.
And there will be a next time.
